Us adjuntem els detalls d'aquesta convocatòria en anglès:

The ISACS Network, Circostrada, ARTCENA and Culture Ireland, in partnership with Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture are delighted to launch this open call for performances at FRESH STREET#3 – International Seminar for the Development of Street Arts.

Taking place May 22-24, 2019 in Galway, Ireland, FRESH STREET#3 will bring together artists, programmers, researchers, pedagogues, journalists, and policymakers from all over the globe for a multidimensional event focused on the development and promotion of street arts.

What counts as street arts? We define it as any performative work that takes place outdoors and in public—be it grounded in circus, dance, music, or any other live arts discipline.

Over 250 international delegates passionate about street arts will take part in panel discussions, workshops, professional exchanges, and exploration of the local context including a visit to the Aran Islands. Delegates will also experience a number of outstanding artistic performances to be curated from this open call. To get a feel for FRESH STREET, check out this short video summary of last year’s event, held in Portugal.

FRESH STREET is a fantastic opportunity for artists to showcase their best work in front of hundreds of performing arts programmers and curators from nations around the world.

We are looking for live, outdoor performances in any discipline to suit the following contexts:
            1. Opening performance at the National University of Ireland, Galway (May 22)
            2. Two main programme performances that are site-specific, on the island of Inis Oírr (May 23)
            3. Closing performance in the city of Galway (May 24)

        Who is eligible:

Professional artists from all disciplines and genres wishing to work live and outdoors are eligible. Artists may be of any nationality. Note that we will be looking for a diverse mix of Irish and international artists on the final programme.

Production budgets (inclusive of artist fees, tech, travel, accommodation and per diems*) ranging from 2,000 to 30,000€ may be covered. Bear in mind that on the final programme we will be looking for a mix of large, small, and micro-scale performances, so we welcome a diverse range of budget proposals.

*Travel, accommodation and per diems will be reimbursed upon proof of expenditure. For Irish artists, these costs are generously supported by Culture Ireland.

Additional non-monetary support for artists includes local knowledge, contacts, and technical support from the FRESH STREET#3 team. Marketing, promotion and media through ISACS, Circostrada, Galway 2020, Culture Ireland and Áras Éanna networks (mailings, social media, local and national press, etc).

        What we’re looking for conceptually:

The theme of this year’s event is Place and Identity. We are interested in the global and local crises that the world is experiencing currently around borders, migration and nationalism as it relates to our sense of place and identity. How might we cultivate a healthy sense of identity in an increasingly globalised and diverse world? How might we express our place-based pride in a way that is positive, humane and inclusive? How might we preserve local culture while embracing diversity? Proposals that speak to any of these topics will have an advantage.

Site-responsive proposals will be given preference, especially for performances proposed for the island of Inis Oírr. That said, you may propose pre-existing pieces or adaptations that suit each context.

Successful applicants must demonstrate a passion for creating work in the outdoors, in participatory process and in public engagement.

For the opening performance we are looking for something particularly unique and invigorating. We’d like to open FRESH STREET#3 with a bang.

For main programme performances, a familiarity with the island of Inis Oírr will be an advantage. We are looking for works that engage directly with this unique place and its people. All of the delegates will be transported for a one-day excursion to the island and we hope to have a few performances that respond directly to the setting. Roving/walking experiences and/or community participation are especially encouraged.

The closing performance is more open-ended. We would like to somehow symbolise the passing of the baton to the next edition of FRESH STREET. We’re open to your vision on how to do that.

Required content and format for submissions:

Please submit a single PDF document containing the following information:
            - A cover page with artist(s) and/or company name(s).
            - A paragraph outlining your ideas, vision, and motivation to perform at FRESH STREET#3.
            - CV of the company and/or all of the artists involved in the proposal. Please insert these CVs directly into your PDF and clearly label each.
            - Link(s) to at least one video of recent work. (Can be text pasted directly in the PDF for us to click or copy-paste.)
            - Three images of recent work. (Also inserted directly into the PDF).
            - You may propose up to three performances in your proposal PDF (submitting more pieces is not necessarily better). For each performance proposed, please specify:
                       - A paragraph explaining the piece. What type of performance is it? What disciplines are used? (clown, acrobatics, drama, music, movement, etc). What makes it special? What kinds of feelings and moods does it evoke? Is there interaction with the public? Activation of the space?
                      - Approximate duration of the piece.
                      - Specify which FRESH STREET#3 contexts you see fit for the piece: opening, closing, or main programme. You may propose more than one context if you feel the piece could work in multiple situations.
                     - A paragraph telling us how the proposed piece relates to this year’s theme of place and identity.
                     - For main programme proposals on Inis Oírr, include an extra paragraph explaining how your piece relates directly to the island and its people. What makes your proposal site-specific?
                     - Tech and staging requirements for the piece.
                     - A fully itemized production budget that covers your desired artist(s) fee(s), tech, materials, travel and accommodation. (See the Compensation section of this document for details).

Practical considerations for works realised on Inis Oírr:

Inis Oírr is a remote island in the Atlantic Ocean. Access to the island is by boat or by a very small plane and is weather dependent. Once on the island, transport is by car, bus, foot, bicycle or horse and trap. There is a small grocery shop, some bars and small restaurants available in the village near the quay.
