Escorça (meaning bark in Catalan) is a contemporary circus piece that explores identity and power relations through the bond between a puppet (the performer) and the puppeteer (the onstage technician-rigger). A manipulated body becomes aware and struggles to push beyond the limits imposed upon it. In this dialogue between control and transformation, the performance invites us to look at ourselves through the lens of fragility and the tension between what we are and what we are allowed to be.
