Selfiematon

INTRODUCTION
Accepting the everyday person’s smartphone dependency, we have designed the Selfiematon.
A handcrafted artifact that is manually activated and serves contemporary individual digital
needs. And it becomes a semi-private space where entertainment is guaranteed.
DESCRIPTION
With this project Solà resurrects and reinterprets the nature of the social phenomenon of the
selfie, establishing a direct relationship with the traditional photo booth, a device that has been
synonymous with fun and shared memories.
While the photo booth captures ephemeral moments in a social environment, the Selfiematon
transforms this usually banal gesture into a personalized creative experience, questioning the
established order of digital immediacy. Thus, the device not only reflects our relationship with

technologies, but also subverts it: it transfers an everyday gesture to the playground and cre-
ativity, turning it into an analog and tangible experience. In a world saturated with homogene-
ous images, the Selfiematon claims the uniqueness and rebellion of each individual, offering a

space for personal expression and criticism of the dynamics of consumption.
Each photograph is transformed into a unique work of art, where the user is both creator and
protagonist. This proposal invites us to reconsider the way we represent ourselves and share
our identities, challenging the conventions of an increasingly uniform world.
HOW TO USE
The Selfiematon is a playful installation that reflects on current events. Due to its classic format,
the public already knows how to inhabit it, although it has instructions for use that facilitate its
use. Its filter mechanism installed in the form of a warehouse implies direct manipulation. The
fact that it is autonomous accentuates the aspect of disinhibition of the public, who can enjoy
the freedom to take selfies in privacy. It is ideal for public or semi-public spaces, both indoors
and outdoors.
