Description
Upswing is looking for three brilliant circus performers for a new production for children and families, directed by Vicki Amedume. The Ramshackle House is a metaphor for living in an unstable environment. The audience will watch the three performers build, create, invent and reinvent, dealing with instability in a forever-changing world.
We are seeking people at a high level in at least one of the disciplines below and a secondary skill.
Aerial skills (hoop, silks, rope)
Floor acrobatics
Duo acrobatics (balancing/adagio)
Sports acro (at a high level)
Juggling
Ability to play a musical instrument
Performers need good devising experience, a passion for their craft and a playful streak. Upswing productions are ensemble pieces where all artists contribute to making the production collaboratively. A team working approach is vital. We value the people that we work with and aim to create a challenging yet fun working environment.
DATES
21st– 26th August 2017 – R&D, Walsall, West Midlands
11th September to 7th October 2017 – Rehearsals Walsall, West Midlands
12th-18th October 2017 – Production week in Walsall, West Midlands
2017 Tour:
Regional previews: 19th-21st October 2017 Walsall; 3rd-5th November 2017 Stoke TBC; 23rd-26th November 2017 Kent.
Christmas Run in London:
27th November – 2nd December 2017 – Production week
4th-24th December 2017 – Run at Stratford Circus Arts Centre
Applicants must have availability for ALL the dates above. The company aims to tour the show nationally in 2018 so we are looking for a long-term commitment.
Performers will be paid above Equity minimum. Please note that we cover relocation costs within the UK outside of London. We welcome applications from those outside the UK, but we are unable to cover expenses for artists coming from overseas.
