APCC

Presentation and objectives

The Associació de Professionals de Circ de Catalunya(APCC) represents the different branches Catalan circus professionals (artists, technicians, businessmen, representatives, officers, directors, playwrights, set designers, choreographers, critics, theorists, teachers, etc.).

The purpose of the Associació de Professionals de Circ de Catalunyais to bring together different sectors of the Catalan circus to promote, disseminate and standardize this scene art in all its forms, placing it as a fact inherently cultural in space that corresponds with the others performing arts. To meet these aims, the APCC will work, among other fields, to influence positively in training, creation, production, dissemination and circuits, heritage and fiscal and labor frameworks. All profit motive is excluded.

The specific objectives are:

  • To provide professional tools
  • To promote and to control cultural policy sector improvements
  • To unite and represent the circus group
  • To promote and accompany initiatives which help to organize and revitalize the sector
  • To dignify the circus

APCC also runs La Central del Circ- Creating space of Barcelona, a center of creation, training and testing for circus professionals, with a specialized training program. La Central del Circ is an initiative of the Ajuntament de Barcelona (Barcelona council) which has the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya and it’s located in El Parc del Forum in Barcelona.

APCC was born as a result of the “Journeys about circus in memoriam Joan Armengol” that took place in the Ateneu Popular de Nou Barris on 22nd and 23th October in 2004. APCC is the natural continuation of the former Circus Association of Catalonia (ACC, 1991-1998). Upon approval of the statutes drafted and presented by the Center for Interim Manager, the APCC was constituted at a meeting held at the Teatre Lliure on December 20, 2004.
